PERIL OF COLD ENGINE

WHAT INQUIRY REVEALED "Times" Cables. LONDON, 10th September. "Tho Times" Paris correspondent states that the inquiry into tho Toul flying disaster reveals that M. Bokanowski arrived at.the airdrome later than expected, and was eager to reach his destination. Accordingly, the pilot, Hanin, was ordered to leave without warming up the engine. Experts are of opinion that when Hanin discovered the engine was not working properly, instead of making a forced landing in tho direction he was then flying, and taking the minor risk of a collision with a tree or other obstacle, ho made the fatal mistake of attempting to return to the airdrome, which was impossible at the low speed attained. M. Bokauowski, the French Minister of Commerce, and four other persons wero burned to death in an airplane in which they wero taking oft from Tour Airdrome on 2nd September, with the intention of participating in an aviation feto at Clermont-Ferrand. Two minutes from tho start the 'piano caught fire at a height of 1600 feet, crashed, and overturned. The occupants were dead before assistance was possible. The other victims were the secretary-general of tho Aerial Navigation Company, tho pilot, Hanin, mechanic, Vidal, and wireless operator, Vellins. The bodies wero burned to ashes.
