SCHOOL COMMITTEE'S ASSOCIATION

The Wellington School Committees 3 Association met last night, Mr. L. Hennessey presiding. After a long discussion on school fire insurance, similar to that which look place at the last meeting, ii motion was passed agreeing that the secrotary write to tho board asking it to mention the definite sum in each case that would bo required for insurance, tho information to be supplied to the various school committees' secretaries; but pointing out that tho resolution did not in any way bind tho association to accept the proposal. Mr. Hennessey was appointed to represent the association at tho annual meeting of the association for the Advancement of Education. In connection with special funds, the following resolution, moved by Mr. Ingram, was passed: "That, whilst appreciating the action of tho Wellington Education Board in requesting the Education Department to transfer only 2~> per cent, of the special fund into tho general fund, the Wellington School Committees' Association enters an emphatic protest against any interference with tho special funds of school committees as at present constituted, and urges all committees and kindred associations throughout New Zealand to do the same."
