The following forecast was Issued at 9 a.m. to-day for the ensuing 24 hours: — Winds—Northerly winds, moderate to strong generally, and reaching galo force at times In places In and south of Cook Strait; later backing to west and south-west. Barometer —Unsteady In the soutli; falling elsewhere. Seas—Rather rough south of Capo Ecmont and off shore south of Castlopoint; moderate elsewhere. Tides—Good generally. Warning Signals for westerly gales are exhibited at Oastlcpoint, Capo Campbell, Stephen's Island, and Farewell Spit. Weather —Unsettled and showery in districts with a .westerly aspect, more specially south of Capo Egmont; elsewhere mainly fair for the present. Mild temperatures in eastern districts.
