the final combined club .'race was decided on Saturday over a three-mile course, starting from' Mrs. Silver's residence, Karaka Bay. F. Silver and J. Silver laid the trail, which led around Scorching Bay over Point Halswell. From here it swung on to the road again, the runners doubling on their, tracks. There were nineteen starters. The limit men received four minutes' start from Silver, who conceded the club champion, Stevens, two seconds. Gough, King, and V. Rogers started off smartly, King setting a fast pace. The order at Point Hnlswell was Bramley, Woodcock, Zander, and King. Upon reaching the road Bramley had increased his lead from Zander and Woodcock by nearly onehundred yards. This order was maintained until 200 yards from the finish, when Bramley spurted and won easily. Woodcock beat Zander in the sprint for second place, with F. Silver finishing fast and running into fourth place. The order of the placed men and their times are as follow: — H. J. Bramley (3inin ITsec), 21min 2 sec •■ 1 B. Woodcock (2min 12sec), 20miu 18 sec '. 2 W. Zander (2min 15sec), 20min 22sec. 3 V. Silver (scr), 18min lOsee i E. P. Whitehouse (lmin 42see), 21min 53sec 5 R. F. Thompson (3min 17sec), 20min 12sec 6 Fastest time was secured by F. Silver (18m:n lOsec), second and third fastest were A. L. Stevens (18min 48sec) and L. Sinclair (19min 33sec). .The..runners and friends were entertained to afternoon tea by Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Silver, and the rose bowl was presented to the winner by the donor, Mr. Holdhouse. Officials of the day were: Messrs. W. and W. W. Ballantyne, timekeepers; bandicapper, Mr. J. W. O'Neill; starter, Mrs. Bollons; judge, Mr. W. J. Walter.:
