MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., dealt with police cases in the Magistrate's Court today. ' Charged with indecently assaulting a ssivl aged 5, George William Jacobs, a painter, aged 52, was remanded on bail Lo 19th September. A first offender for drunkenness, who did not appear, was fined the amount of her bail, 10s. George Lucas, alias paniel O'Shea, a cook, aged 40, who admitted having been found in a state of helpless drunkenness in Taranaki street, was convicted and ordered to pay medical expenses, £2 9s, in default 14 days' imprisonment. A remand to Friday was granted in the cast of AH Fnrah, a greaser, aged 28, who was charged with having unlawfully deserted from the steamer Willesden at Wanganui.
