COOK BICENTENARY
CELEBRATIONS IN ENGLAND Australian Press Association. LONDON, 31st August. The Cook bicentenary celebrations, though the actual date is 27th October, have been fixed for climatic reasons for Bth September. There will'be great ceremonies .in Yorkshire, where there will be a pilgrimage to Cook's birthplace, Marton, and at the school at Great Ay ton there will be a play fea- • hiring Cook's life at Whitby. Arrangements are being made to rally Australians and New Zealanders to participate in the London function on 27th October, when a wreath will be laid on the statue of the Admiralty Arch. Mr. Baldwin, Mr. Amery, Sir Charles Batho, Mr. Bridgeman, and the AgentsGeneral have been invited, also a line of beacons will be lit from Whitby to Great Ayton.
