MR. W. C. BRIDGEMAN

FIRST LORD OF ADMIRALTY RETIRING I ROM PARLIAMENT British Official Wireless. (Received Ist September, 10.35 a.m.) KUGBY, 31st August. Mr. W. C. Biidgeinan, First Lord of the Admiralty, announced, at a meeting of the Oswestry Conservative Association to-uay, that- lie would not seek re-election as member for the division. He said that his reasons were purely personal. Ho felt that the strain of conducting a large office like the Admiralty and of staying late at- night in the House of Commons was more than he could undertake without serious injury to .his health. Mr. Bridgeman has represented the division for 22 years. He hns been First Lord of the Admiralty since November, 1924. - He was Home Secretary in the preceding Conservative Government. Tho newspapers suggest that Mr. Bridgeman will bo elevated to the Peerage, and that consequently he will not be retirin-- from political life.
