ENCOURAGING ART
(To the Editor.) gjr ; —Those who have seen. part of the collection of posters now on exhibition in Willis Btreet have fully appreciated their value as fine art work. It is to be regretted that our local art lovers have not offered to assist in providing means of a full' exhibition of this wonderful collection that Miss Guy has. An appeal is being made for £100,000 for an art gallery to house the collection of pictures owned by the Academy. When a chance comes our way the Art Gallery should lend its space willingly, as has been done for more commercial propositions quite recently. The beauty and high standard of work shown in , these posters should have commended the collection to those in charge of the Academy. In the interests of good art will you please publish this letter?—l am, etc.,., ' , ART FOR THE PEOPLE.
