USES OF GRAPHITE.

Graphite has many uses in an automobile. To make a graphite grease mix flake graphite with ordinary graphite lubricating oil until it has attained tho consistency of butter. This grease, besides being useful for gasket coating, may be used for many jobs. If tire rims are thoroughly cleaned with sandpaper and given a coating of graphite about twice a year rust will be prevonted. When applied to the threads of demountable rim studs the nuts may

be set up tighter and may be easilj removed when necossary. Graphite applied to the spark plug threads permits tho plugs to bo easily inserted and removed. The plugs may bo screwed down to the limit with a minimum danger of destroying the threads. Tho graphite will also assist materially in preventing tho leakage of compressed gas around the plugs. As a squeak preventer it is a reliable agent. The London police number 20,058. Of course, they are not all handling traffic. There- are, however, 2200 miles of streets on which accidents may occur.
