LOCAL FRUIT MARKET.
The Director of the Horticulture Division has received the following reports from tho fruit, inspector on the condition of locally grown i'ruit and vegetables in Wellington shops and auction rooms and tho market conditions for the month of August, 1928:—The quality of the bulk of the apples arriving on the Wellington market has not been up to standard. Irregularity of supplies has considerably affected prices realised. Vegetables, both root and green, have been in fair supply. Early spring produce is now* starting to appear. The following is a fair average of prices realised:—Apples: Stunners, fancy 6s to 7s per bushel case, others 4s to ss; Jonathan, fancy 7s to 9s, others 4s to ss; Delicious, fancy Gs to 7s, others 4s fid to ss; Ballarats, fancy 5s Cd to Gs, others 4s 6d; Washington, fancy Gs to 7s,'others ss;; Dougherty, fancy 5s to 5s Cd, others 4s to 4s Gd. Pears; Vicars, fancy Gs to 7a Ud, others 'ss; Winter Cole, fancy 8s to 9s, others ss; Winter Nelis, fancy 7s to Bs, others ss; P. Barry, fancy ,7s to Bs, others 0s; Poorman oranges, 8s to 9s per case; lemons, local 12s to 13s, cured 16s to 18s.
