VISIT TO IRELAND
DUBLIN ENTHUSIASTIC British Official Wireless. (Received 31st August, 10,30 a.m.) RUGBY, 30th August. Mr. F. B. Kollogg, tho American Secretary of State, arrived at Kingstown to-day on his visit to tho Irish Tree State •Hb had 'been accompanied from Paris by President Cosgravc. Ho was most enthusiastically received. Ecplying to an address of welcome, he said that lie believed that the warmth of tho reception was not for himself, but for the country which he represented, whoso heart was always so close to the heart of Ireland. He was pleased that the visit was under tho auspices of President Cosgrave, who was returning from a momentous meeting at Paris, where he had joined in pledging his country to tho great causo of peace. . .'V Proceeding" to Dublin, Mr. Kellogg was received with military, .honours, and the freedom of tho city was conferred upon him. Commissioner Murphy said that no greater houour had como to the city than this opportunity to confer its. freedom upon Mr. Kellogg. His act of securing from the Powers of tho world a contribution of faith to, tho high cause of 'peace and humanity had. earned for Mr. Kellogg the gratitude of the whole human race for all time,
