MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases in the Magistrate's. Court -to-day were dealt with by Mr. B. Page, B.M. A'fourth statutory offender for drunkenness, James Howard, was fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment. For '* breach of his prohibition order he was lined £.1, or 14 days' imprison- \ ment. For casting offensive matter, James Urquhart was fined £1. On a charge of selling goods on a Sunday, Buby Walker was fined £1. Failure to renew his wireless license cost Charles E. W. Levin £5. "I am very sorry; I didn't intend to go iii," said Sarah Thorpe, who admitted two charges of having been found in hotels while- a prohibited person. Sub-Inspector Lander said that; the defondant had sis previous convictions. The defendant was convicted and dis- [ charged on each charge. William Herbert May and John Benjamin Darrall, for being in possession of an automatic pistol without, a permit, were each fined £5. May, for delivering possession of the firearm, was convicted and discharged, and Darrall was similarly treated on charges of carrying an automatic pistol %nd procuring possession of the pistol. ; Myo young men—Joseph Hassett, William M'Uroy, William Priccnzi,u, and Leonard Young—^vere charged wit.li behaving in a disorderly manner in Riddiford street. Hassett did not appear in Court, and the other three pleaded not guilty. A few minutes bofore 2 o'clock in the morning several weeks ago tho constable on duty near the Public Hospital heard loud singing, and he accosted tho four aeeused outside the main entrance to the Hospital. "They were singing and generally sky-larking" stated the constable. They were sober, and although there was undue noise, there was no horseplay. Mr. Page dismissed the charges, with a caution. "But you must behave in an orderly manner," he added.
