LODGE MEETINGS
Heretaunga Lodge, No. 115, . 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Petone oil 21st August, Bro. Pincock, N.&., presiding over a good attendance. One member was reported sick, and relative sick pay ivas passed. Invitations to various socials were accepted. Cards, harmony, and supper concluded an enjoyable "Isthfr Rebekalr Lodge, No. 30, 1.0.(* F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Brooklyn on 21st August, Sister R. Blair, N.G., presiding over a good attendance, visitors including Sister Si. Lowe, of Eahiri Kebekah Lodge. A member was reported to be still oil the sick list. lUrst nomination of officers for the ensuing term was taken, Sister E. Cole, P.N.tr., being the only competitor from.the lodge, will compete in the district ritual competition. It was decided to deiend the Bradley memorial cribbage shield against Zealandia Lodge on 4th September. At the conclusion of business the lodge irent into harmony. . Wildey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0.1., Tx.£., held its fortnightly meeting at Island Bay oii 22nd August, Bro. L. D. Wells, N.G., presiding over a. fair attendance. Visitors present were Bros. E. JYl'Donnell, P.Cr. (Taihape), R. C. Andrew, P.G. (Southern Cross) E. D. Wallis, P.G., and 11. A. Hardham, P.G. (Zealandia). One member was reported still on the sick list and relative sick pay was passed. Routine business completed, the lodge adjourned for the purpose of holding a "Mock Divorce" case, social evening, and dance. Items were contributed by Miss Hodder and Bro. Miners, music tor the dancing being supplied by Mrs. Craighead, Bro. D. Craighead, Bro. Gledhill, and Bro. Ji. D. Wallis. The playlet, which was written, and produced by Bro. B. J. Oxenham and Bro. A. Harding, was presented by Bros. Jones, Havill, Harding, Wells, Crombie, M'Donnell, Nind, Brown, Oxenham, Hill, Churchill, and Rudkin. ; Victoria Rebekah Lodge, No. 2, I.O.O.1?., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting on 23rd August, Sister J. Rothnie, N.G., presiding over a large attendance, visitors including Bro. D. E. Smillie, Deputy Grand Master of New Zealand, Bro. G. V. Rudkin, P.G., C.P., Sister M.' MaeDonnell, treasurer, and Sister James, V.G., o£ Tui Rebekah Lodge, Sister R. Blair, N.G. (Esther Rebekah Lodge), and Sister M. Lowe (Rahiri Rebekah Lodge). An official visit was received from members of Wildcy Lodge. One sister was reported sick, aud two candidates were admitted to membership. Sisters E. Maley, P.N.G., nvd H. Jorgensen, P.N.G., and Bro. A. Christie, P.G., were appointed judges for the ritual competition, the winners being Sister. J. Rothnie, N.G;, in the senior, and Sister ]<r Clark in the junior. Bro. MaeDonnell conveyed fraternal greetings from Tui Hebekah Lodge,. Taihape. . O-Kiwi-iti Lodge, No. 44, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its usual,fortnightly meeting at Eastbourne -oh 20tli'-August The attendance was only medium. Two new members were initiated and another proposed for membership. The lodge combined with Muritai Lodge in holding a card evening and dance on 23rd August at which a presentation was made on behalf of the two lodges by Bro. J. C. E. Turner, P. 0., to Bro. Arthur Smith, N.G., of Muritai Lodge, who was recently'married. Maraemii Lodge, No. 124, 1.0.0.T?., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Miramar last week, when there was a very large attendance, an official, visit being .received from members of the Cleveland Lodge. One nomination for membership was received, and the first nomination of officers was taken. Amo*s the other visitors present were Bros. Mcech (Southern Cross) and J. C. E. Turner (Muritai Lodge). At the termination of business the lodge withstood a challenge for the "500" Shield from Cleveland Lodge, winning by 8 games to 7. ' . Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24, 1.0.0.1., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting last Meek, the Noble Grand (Bro. J. H. West, P.G.) presiding over a fair attendance. Several brothers were reported on the sick list' and relative drafts were passed.:' Three candidates were nominated _ for membership, and the first nomination of officers was also taken.: The auditors presented a favourable report on the quarterly and halfyearly returns/ the treasurer (P.G. Bro. Andrew), and secretary (Bro. W. J. Condliffe) being highly commended on the efficient manner in which they had performed their duties. Business being disposed of at an early hour, the lodge went into harmony, when members and visitors were entertained at a social evening organised by Bros. R. O. Andrew, P.G.; and E. G. Miller. The evening was devoted to dancing, for which excellent music was dispensed by Bro. E. D. Walis (piano), Bro. Farrell (banjo), and Bro E. C. Young (saxophone). Items were contributed during the evening by Miss Winnie Lee and Master Reggie Lee (Dutch duo dance), aud little Miss Marjorie>Lee in a Dutch solo dance. Mr. Rowath entertained with humorous items, and Mr. R. Muir gave an amusing 1.0.0. F. glossary. Several competitions for prizes were also held. A well-patronised function terminated with the dispensing of supper by Bros. Andrew, E. Miller, and R. Mee'ch.
