SCOTTISH CLUB

At Miramar on Saturday nineteen runners from the Scottish Harriers Club faced the starter (Mrs. Bollons) for the Hislop Memorial race over a 10,000 metres course. The winner holds for one year the silver rose bowl donated to the club by the late Hon. T. W. Hislop in memory of his wife. The limit men held a seven-minute advantage over Stevens (lOsec) -and Silver (scratch). King, O'Meara, Spoor, and W. Zander led until reaching the gasworks. The course started from the terminus around the Chinese "'gardens, and on to the road again. A turn back along Brussel street to Norfolk avenue increased the distance from the usual trail by approxrnately a mile. From.the gasworks L. Sinclair and E. W. Wbitehouse took command with Waterhouse clinging doggedly to them. Upon, reaching the two-mile straight home Sinclair had increased his lead and won comfortably by fifty yards from Whitehouse with W. Zander 120 yards further back' third. Stevens ran a great race to finish in fourth place. The fastest times were'as1 follows:—A. L: Stevens, 36min llsec,.- I;.L. ' Sinclair, 33min 6sec, 2; E. W. Whitehouse; 38min 43sec, 3. P. B. Silver pulled out about a mile from home. Mr. W. J. Walter presented the rose bowl to the winner at the conclusion of the run.
