FAMOUS CHILDREN OF HISTORY
——'■/'. On Saturday afternoon the Large Town Hall will be transformed into a cabaret for the novel entertainment organised by Mrs. James Hannah and the. Plunket Committee to aid the society's funds. The society makes only one public appeal a year of this kind, and it is hoped that the Wellington public who have, received so much benefit from the voluntary work of the society will Bhow their appreciation of this very original entertainment. The pageant, which promises to "be a brilliant spectacle, will take.place on an extended stage, so that'a clear view of the performance can be obtained from any part of the house. The principal characters will appear first in a lighted picture frame raised above the stags;level. The performers are of varying ages, and to those who love small children the acting of pert pages, solemn angels, and minstrels of. four to fourteen years should prove yost fascinating. There are performers of adult years who : enjoy, themselves thoroughly in the comparatively humble positions of waiting Maids and attendants on the child heroes and heroines. Mrs. Hannah, who is ■ entirely responsible for the designing and staging of this pageant, has en'de/ivoured to make every detail as correct as possible. A wonderful Elizabethan; ship will be/carried in procession before young Walter Raleigh —the medieval angels whisper to Joan of Arc, infuriated Revolutionists threaten the children of Marie Antoinette, and the spirit of America approves the honesty of George Washington. At the conclusion, of the Btage performance the pageant will proceed through the aisles of the main hall,- bo that evfcry member of the audience can obtain a close view of the characters.' ./■■■'.■■■- - Afternoon tea is included in the price of admission, and will'be served by the ladies of the Plunket .'Committee and helpers under the charge of: Mrs. Henry Hall, Mrs. MacEldowney, Miss Cameron, and Miss Cable. The audience on the floor .will be seated at tea tables to watch the performance, and tea will be served from buffets in the gallery. The orchestra will be directed by Miss E. Dennehy. Her Excellency the Lady Alice Fergusson and party, will attend. The ;box plan is now open at'tho Bristol. ■ :
