CHATHAM CUP MATCH

■ • —_—» .■■ ".. N.Z. COUNCIL CRITICISED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.^ PALMERSTON N., This Day. At a meeting of the Manawatu Football Association a letter was received from the St. Andrew's Club, Manawatu'a contenders for the Chatham Cup, drawing attention to the alleged dilatoriness on the part of the New Zealand Council in notifying ■the Hawkes Bay Association of the date of the Chatham Cup tie between the St. Andrew's Club and Hastings United. The Hawkes Bay Association had been notified only on sth July that the game was to be played on the, 14th July, and had very little time to make' arrangements. ■, It was also, alleged that the match could easily have been arranged for 7th July, when the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union would have been willing to. lend their ground. This was an attitude of indifference by the parent .body to the minor associations. "The time is coming," the letter added, and it will not be too soon, when the minor associations will be compelled to form an association to protect themselves. The parent association, when that 'comes to pass, will awaken to the fact that there are clubs and associations, outside the four big centres who have to be considered soon, and not at some future time. After a brief discussion it was decided to forward the letter to the New Zealand Council.
