At Manchester, in the British wo-1 men's championships, the South African Olympic athlete, Miss Clarke, won tho 100 yards hurdles in 13 4-osec, a world's record. The Japanese Olympic runner, Miss K. Hitomi, won the 220 yards, beating the world's Tccord in her heat in 25 4-ssec. Miss Gunn, the British long jumper, jumped 18ft 7 Jin, a world's record.
