QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE THE CALL FOR HELP WAS IT NECESSARY? United Press Association—By Electric Tellgraph—Copyright. Australian Proas Association—United Service. (Received sth July, noon.) LONDON, 4th July. In a discussion in. the House of Commons on the Jervis Bay affair, in which eight stowaivays created a panic on the vessel, in the course of which the captain sent out a wireless message for assistance, answered by the Navy, Mr. Williams asked: "Are wo to understand that every available practicable help was sent to the Jervis Bay?" Mr. W. 0. Bridgeman, Mrst Lord of the Admiralty: "Yes." Colonel Wedgewood (Lab.): "What is the cost to the British taxpayer of sending this assistance? Will it be charged against the owners of the Jervis Bay, which made an unnecessary call for help?" Mr. Bridgeman: "It is'not for me to say whether the call for help was necessary. I will endeavour to reply to the question later." I ' —_—^———
