THE DAY IN PARLIAMENT
Parliament has once again settled down to the time-honoured prolixities and generalisations and charges and counter-charges usual iv an Address-m-Reply Debate. In both Chambers yesterday the inaugural speeches wer. made, stress being laid by the speakers iv the Legislative Council on the neea for the exercise of greater thrift by the community in general; while in tho House of Representatives 'both tho mover and tho seconder of the Address-in-Eeply motion attacked the Labour Party over the Samoan question, from which it may bo deduced that this subject will be further expounded from tho point of view of all parties. Each of the two speakers' in the House in tha evening occupied his full hour, and covered a wide variety of .topic's, both in tho realm of international and local poll, tics, and the debate was adjourned at 9.30 p.m. on the motion of the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. H. E. Holland). The House thereupon rose. The Legislative Council sat for two hours in the afternoon, three speeches being deliv< ered.
