LODGE MEETINGS
. ; The iorthightly meeting of Loyal Sister Wallia Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held last Tuesday evening, Sister E. Paruell, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. It was the occasion of the combined visit of the city and suburban lodges, aiTanged by the Post Grand's Lodge, and the District Grand Master, District Secretary, and members of the Management Committee as well as a good representation of the Past Grand's Lodge attended. ■ The president called upon members to stand iv silence for a few moments iv respect to the memory of the late Bishop Wallis, whose death in England had been reported, and a resolution passed that a letter of condolence be forwarded to Mrs. Wallis, she having been/one of the foundation members and the lodge named after her. All city and suburban lodges having been judged in respect to the Steffanson Shield contest, again won by Loyal Sister Wallis L"odge, the president presented it to the winners for the past term. Sister E. E. M'Farlaue,' of the Loyal ; Sister Wallis Lodge, was adjudged the best N.G., Sister A. M. .Reynolds, of the Loyalßose of the' Valley Lodge, the best 1.P.N.G., and-Bro. Bell, P.G., o£ the Loyal Newtown Lodge, the best lecture mastei. The N.G. of Loyal Antipodean Lodge, congratulated the winners of the Steft'anson Shield; on behalf of.-all-the defea ted lodges, the N.G.ofthe Loyal Sister; VVallis Lodge returning thanks.- A motion of hearty thanks to Brother Turner for. donating-jewels -was carried with ac- | clamation. Broi Shrhnpton, the Grand Secretary r -addressed: the meeting and -was..] warmly applauded. The Provincial Grand Master of the Taranaki District, expressed pleasure at being present at such a representative gathering of Oddfellows. Dancing was later indulged in,'the.Loyal Sister..!Wallis Orchestra providing the music. -':..'■ The usual meeting of Loyal, Newtown Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0Ji1., was held on Monday last, ■ Brd. Johnson N.G., presiding •. over a good attendance. An invitation to a social- evening was received from Sister Wallis Lodge. Bio.: Bland,-, Lecture Master, conferred the White' Degrees on Bros. Mears, Cunnins, Warderhouse, Shaw, MacLaridge, and Short. Loyal Kose of Sharon Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.Q.0.F., held its fortnightly meeting last week. The following officers were appointed: Conductor, P.G. Bro. Skinley; guardian, P.G. Bro. F. Purvis; warden, Bro. L. Boult; supporters, Bros. Scott, Braid, and Coley. P.G. Bro. Ridgway installed the Vice-Grand-elect, Sister G. Marshall. The warden,, Bro. Chiug, was instructed to proceed with the alterations to the cloak rooms. The following were elected a Dance Committee: Bros. Cropp, Ridgway, Purvis, Scott, Braid, C. Boult, L. Boult, Coley, and Sisters Marshall, and Braid. One candidate was prdposed for membership. Bro. G. H. Snelling, N.G., presided over the usual fortnightly meeting of Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester' Unity, 1.0.0. F.; held on Tuesday :last. One candidate was initiated and a proposal for. membership was-received.' .After dealing with sick pay,.correspondence, and urKent business, the lodge adjourned early, to patricipate' in tjre' Manchester Unity .combined visit to the Loyal.Sister Wallis Lodge. ' ■ ■':.'■. Holly Lodge, U.A.0.D., Johnsonville, held its fortnightly meeting in the Assembly Hall on Saturday, 30th June, A.D. Bro W. S. Reeves being in the chair. Sick pay amounting to £6 7s 4d was passed Am'oE* **ie-visitors .were P.D.P. Bro. J Crowther. Shannon Lodge, and Bro. J Johnson, Grand Lodge Trustee. A unique departure took place in the history of the lodge, four ladies, being admitted as members of the -order. Two male members were, also' initiated.
