The Pompadours and Nell Gwynnes of history, when sweetened to taste, make ' excellent raw material for the writing of comedies, musical and, otherwise, and a fortune probably awaits: the man or men—it sometimes needs four ftp' flo it—who will turn Sappho into music and\ money for modern audiences. For fni.jjttsent, however, Madame Pompadour and/Louis XV. serve very well, and tho enthusiastic .'audience that greted the Beppie de Vrles' (Williamson) company In the Grand Opera House last evening was well satisfied with; an- entirely satisfying performance. In treading the narrow lino between the wicked and the squalid, Miss Beppe de Vrles was entirely artistic, and her stage version of Pompadour tuned In with everything ■that the lover' of musical comedy requires. On Saturday i evening will be produced "The Student Prince"," which 13 being looked forward to with,' pleasurable anticipation. ,
