A CERTAIN CATCH.
(This is a certain catch, if your friend is not already up to it.) Jones—l can make you say "black. ' Smith—l bet you halt'-a-crown you can t. - Jones—Done. (Eaising his eyes) "What's the colour of the sky? Smith—Blue. ' , . . Jones—What .is the colour of that golfer's coat? Smith—Bed. j ones _\Vhat's the. colour of that lump o£ coal? ' Smith (chuckling)—No,. you don t, my boy! Jones—Well, then, wjiat's the colour of the Union Jack? ' Smith (carefully)— Red, white, and blue. Jones (auickly)—There, I said I d make you say bliie. ' '; ■ < ' Smith (hugrily)—No, it was black! Suddenly stops, realising too late that ho lias said the fatal word. Jones—Half-a-crown, please. One morning the boy came ito the office and tossing his cap at a hook exclaimed: "Say, sir, there's a football match to-day, and I want to see it." The director was willing that the boy should go, but thought it ( would be "an excellent opportunity to teach him a lesson .in good manners. "James," ho said, "that isn't the way to ask a favour. Now, you .sit down in my chair and pretend you are me. I'll pretend I am you, and show you how to do it properly." ■; Tlic boy"" took tha chair, the director picked up his cap and stepped outside. He (lien opened the door softly, and, holding the cap in his Jiand, said quietly to the small boy in the chair: "Please, sir," there is a football match to-day; if you can spare mo I'd like to get away for" the afternoon." • In a flash the boy responded: "Why, certainly, Jimmie—and here's a shilling' tor your entrance money."
