MANY WAGONS SMASHED
HEAVY LOSS OF CATTLE TRUCKS TELESCOPED (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") . , , -AUCKLAND, This Day. Through a goods train bound for Auckland being dorailcd shortly after six o'clock this morning, about two miles north of -Pukekohe, thirty-three trucks wero piled, in-an indescribable mess. ..."'• .. ' ' Six trucks laden- with cattle were telescoped, and a number of the .animals were killed, and others died subsequently, or liiid to bo destroyed One wagon left the rails about a quarter of a mile south of the scene, and was dragged this distance. Finally the others telescoped it. The railway track was torn up for three chains. Tho rails were twisted, and the sleepers broken. .... v ' A gang is engaged in extricating the unfortunate animals. The scene is a terrible one. All tho trains are held up.. * Tho Wellington-Auckland ordinary express preceded; the goods traip. Passengers and mails are being transferred at Pukckohe aiid Paerata. 'It is expected' that jtho Hue will be cleared to-night. ■
