At Geneva, Sir James Parr (High Commissioner for New Zealand) and Sir George Richardson (late Administrator of Samoa) attended a meeting of the Mandates Commission, and made statements regarding the situation •in Samoa. The statements amounted to a summary of the Eoyal Commission's report, especially dealing with the sale of copra by the Administration owing to tho low prices paid by traders, the application of the Prohibition law, and the methods used to influence .natives against the' Administration. The last included figures allegedly showing the Administration expenses compared with those of other .islands which Mr. Gurr had admitted before the Eoyal Commission were erroneous. , Members of the Mandates Commission asked a few questions, notably regarding the'natives' right to petition, but no new points were elicited. The meeting lasted for an hour, and the discussion will probably be finished tomorrow. • • •■ The Commission later will draw up a report, which will not be published until it is submitted to tho League Council in September.
