REFORM LEAGUE
At a meeting of .the Wellington executive of the New Zealand Political Eef orm League held' last evening, Mr. J. J. Clark presiding, a letter was received from the Prime ■ Minister expressing gratification, at tho excellent' manner -in which the reeen?. Reform rally at the Town Hall was organised, and congratulating the executive on the success which had attended tho meeting; also conveying his thanks to' those concerned for the work performed by tliem and his cordial appreciation of the enthusiasm and interest displayed with such satisfactory results. Mr. Coates referred ' specially to the services of Mr.' Clem Howe (the organist). Mr. Will J. Mason (leader of tho community singing), , and the'members of the Melody Four: vocal quartet party, who mado such valuable contribution to the success "of the gathering, and asking that the executive would convey to those gentlemen, an expression of his' keen appreciation of their services. Reference wa3 also made to Mr. Martin Luckie's acceptance of the.party's nomination for the Wellington South seat at .the coming General Election, great satisfaction being expressed that that gentleman's services would be available in. the Reform interests. Mr. Dunbar Sloane's intimation of his willingness to contest the Wellington Central seat was also received with gratification, the outlook in both cases being regarded as very promising.
For failing to keep sanitary fittings in repair, ■William H. Wakefield was fined £1, in the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon.
