STRAND THEATRE.

Corlnne Griffith has the leading role in "The Garden of Eden," which commenced a season at the Strand Theatre to-night. It was adapted from the German forathe American stage by Avery Hopwood, and it was in turn made into picture form by Hans Kraly. Tho symbolism of tho birthplace of man is carried along with a modern story. There is nothing of the original Garden of Eden in tho picture. It is in the garden of the Hotel Eden that Tonl Lebrtin, an unsophisticated cabaret singer of Budapest, with operatic ambitious, Dnds her first and only love; only to give him up voluntarily and find htm again. Miss Griffith has as her leading man Charles Ray, cast in the part of Richard Spanyl, a wealthy pert young man who becomes panic-strickeu when faco to face with a real love, and whose socially snobbish relatives cause plenty of trouble. Louiso Dresser takes the role of the impoverished "Baroness," and others include Lowell Sherman, Edward Martindel, Maude George,- and Hank Mann: Good supports and appropriate music are also to bo shown.
