Tlio following is an extract from tho shipping columns of tho "Evening. Post," dated 21st January, ISTI :— "That noble ship tho Douglas, .which has been an object of general admiration at the Queen's Wharf during the jiast four months, hauled off into tho stream yesterday evening to sail for London in a few days. ' She iakes the largest cargo ever shipped at this port, consisting of 5800 bales and 45 packages wool, 111) hales skins and pelts, 091 bales flax, 121 casks tallow, 2000 sacks wheat, 1453 sacks flour, 360 cases preserved meats, about 20 tons hones, and other cargo, valued at £120,000. Allowing for Sundays and holidays, tho actual loading of this 1428-ton ship has only occupied a. trifle over two months, a pieco of dispatch very creditablo to Messrs. Jackson and Graham's arrangements. The Douglas is in flno trim, aud everything seems to promise a. pleasant and prosperous run home. She takes 18 passengers, 12 in the saloon, viz.: Mr. and Mrs. John Kebboll, Mr. and Mrs. Chaytor, Mrs. Harding and child, Mr. John Taylor, Misses Taylor (2), the Hoy. W. Sewell, Dr. Park, and Mr. Bruce, and six in tho steerage."
