There has been a rather sharp rise in pressure from Cook Strait southwards following tho rapid advance of an anticyclone, which, on Thursday morning, was centred over Tasmania. In the northern districts, however, barometers have recorded littlo change, owing to a cyclono covering tho Northern Tasman Sea. Moderate northerly winds prdominated during Thursday, but with tho rise in pressure a change to southerly has taken placo. since last night in and south of Cook Strait. Fair weather ruled yesterday and during last night conditions became somewhat unsettled, and light to modorute scattered rain has since fallen in many districts.
