MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons eases at the Magistrate's Court yesterday were dealt witli br Mr. K. Page, S.M. For casting offensive matter, William Mooney was fined 10s, in default seven days' imprisonment. Peter Butler, aged 50, who was found in a drunken condition on the Maori last evening shortly after the vessel left Lyttelton. and who admitted having no ticket, was lined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, on a charge of stowing-away. A further remand for a fortnight was granted in the case of Julius Is'ervi, a lisherman, aged 47, who was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car in Adelaide road on 30th May, and with having caused bodily injury to Mrs. M. Ward while in that condition. Senior-Sergeant Butler paid that the Hospital authorities had told him that Mrs. Ward's condition was much the same. Bail was renewed iMie Alexander Key was fined £1 for failing to surrender his electrical wireman 's registration certificate for endorsement. A sentence of three months' imprisoDmciit was imposed on James Sidney Cody, a fireman, aged 28, who pleaded guilty to the theft of an overcoat, valued at £7.
