A WISE ACT
INDUSTRIAL CONFERENCE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Bth June. When reporting to a well-attended meeting of the Sheepownors' Union today, Mr. J. S. Jesscp, a delegate to tho industrial conference, said he at first had very little confidence in the conference producing any tangible results. JTowever, he now was strongly of the opinion that tho Prime Minister acted wisely in calling representatives of employers and employees of the Dominion together. An indirect result of the conference could be conducive of nothing but good, and the opportunity that had been given to discuss different points of view should lead to a better understanding. A direct result of the conference would depend upon how far the Government gave the recommendations of the conference the force of law. To-day's meeting was unanimously of opinion that if the joint recommendations of primary and secondary industries representatives were given effect to and tho 1.0. and A. Act amended accordingly, it would put now life into industry throughout the Dominion. It was considered essential that industry should be relieved of the hampering influence of the Arbitration Act.
