BETTER WEATHER
A lUSE IN There■'lias been a moderate anticyclone covering most of the Dominion and the northern part of the Tasman Soa, a depressiou of the westerly type at the same time being situated between the south of New Zealand and Tasmania. With the approach of the latter, barometric pressure has begun to fall in the South. Yesterday generally fair to fine weather prevailed in most parts of the Dominion, but in Westland and in parts of Otago it was less settled, some scattered showers being experienced. Light to moderate southerly winds have prevailed north of New Plymouth and Napier, moderate westerlies to northerlies ruling to the' 1 south of that line. Last night was cold, many inland frosts being experienced. The indications point to moderate southerly winds north of New Plymouth and Napier, these gradually veering to the north. Elsewhere the winds are likely to be between the north and the west and to freshen. Cloudy and unsettled weather may be experienced in Westland and in the southern portions of New Zealand, these conditions extending later to districts with a westerly aspect. Elsewhere it should be mainly fair with milder temperatures.
