MAUI POMARE ARRIVES

i MAIDEN VOYAGE COMPLETED Of somewhat unusual but pleasing lines, the new motor ship Maui Pomare proved an object of interest to those who witnessed her arrival at the wharves this morning. The Maui Pomare made her maiden voyage to New Zealand in two stages, the first from Liverpool and Southampton to Apia, Samoa, where she discharged her Home cargo, and the second from Apia to Wellington, via Niuo Island. ' I Having .discharged at Apia, the Maui Pomaro loaded bananas, and then left I for Niuc, where she received a further consignment of bananas and a quantity of copra. About 200 tons of bananas j are being discharged at Wellington, while the copra will be unloaded at Auckland. The Maui Pomare left Dublin oii 29th February for Liverpool and Southampton, where she shipped ovex 700 tons of general cargo for Samoa.\ She sailed i from Southampton on 21st March, and encountered a westerly gale with high seas. After four days at sea the weather cleared and remained favourable until a few days ago, when moderate to heavy seas slightly delayed the vessel's arrival at Wellington. During the whole of the voyage the Maui Pomare proved a seaworthy vessel, and the absence of vibration from her powerful oil-engines made her extremely comfortable. The average speed of the vessel from England to New Zealand was ten knots.
