OTAKI MEETING " TO-DAY'S RESULTS (From Our Special Reporter.) Tlio Otaki Maori Bating Club's Winter Mooting opened to-day at Otaki in dull but fine weather. . Whisogne led into the straight from Lady Gay, Red Bank, San Pedro, -Glengariff, and Sir Moment. Lady Gay slipped at the last fence, when lead, ing, and Whisogne assumed command, but Sir Moment, finishing fast, got up to win by half a • length" with Lady Gay .half a neck away third. Gleugariff was a close fourth, and San Pedro fifth. Ther<s was nothing in the nature of a fluke about Sir Moment's win, as he was always well placed to finish best of all runners'. Whisogne ran gamely, but had Lady Gay not slipped at the last fence she must have won instead of finishing a close third. Glengariff and San Pedro both went good races, and Star Shell, looking very big in condition, showed a lot of pace till he fell. Time, 3min ssec. , (Winner trained by owner.) Tho Raider, just in front of a bunched lot, was fourth. Markmint ran quite his best race to date. Ho began smartly and withstood several challenges. Better placed in the earlier stages, Spearmiss would possibly have won. Keddar can be classed as an unlucky runner, while Cholone did not appear to be able to gallop in the soft ground. Lady's Boy only went well for five furlongs. Time, lmin 19 3-osec. . Dominion Rose fell and broko her back a furlong from home. .•■ j (Winner trained by E. T. Yuilc, Levin.) In a great race up the straight Ring Boy hung on well to. win by three-quarters of. a. length from Glenross, with "Kilperon another half a length away third.
