AT A STANDSTILL
RELIEF SHIP'S SEARCH HELP FROM TIUPEERS Australian Press Association. , LONDON, 30th May. Advicos from King's Bay state that the Citta di Milano's expedition in search of the Italia is a,t a standstill, as tho ship is not strongly enough built, to withstand the ice pressure; Moreover, it is considered that the only men who now can help tho Italia ai'o a few fur trappers accustomed to the conditions on the coast, and, trappers are now being organised in | order that a search may begin forthwith. The Hobby and tho Braganza, will be manned by special crews and carry a detachment of Norwegian soldiers who are used to the Polar regions. If the. Italia came down in South Spitzbergen there is little hope of survival, as the. ice there is constantly shifting, and a landing from airplane or boat is almost impossible. ' Thus far nothing has been achieved by air-, planes owing to storms, which have been almost continuous since the Italia started. A messago from the Citta di Milano denies that the vessel received any message whatever from seal hunters on or around Amsterdam Island.
