LONG MOTOR JOURNEY
ASIA AND EUROPE TWENTY COUNTRIES CROSSED . British Official Wireless. BTJ6BY, 30th May. Major Duncan M'Callum, of tho Legation Guard in Pekin, accompanied by his wife,, reached London yesterday after a remarkable 15,000 miles motor journey from Pekin. They traversed Asia, including the Gobi desert, which had been considered impassable, and altogether passed through 20 coun- | tries. They never had occasion to sleep in the open, and always found a roof to caver them, even in the. moat unlikely places. Their chief tribulation was weather. The journey began in the wet season, and apart from the end they had almost continuous rain. Nevertheless they succeeded in collecting invaluable data about roads hitherto considered impassable. The journey took cloven months to complete, Major M'Callum having dovoted his furlough to it. He is duo back to duty in Pekin in August. '^
