THIS MORNING'S WORK AT ELLERSLIE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Beautiful weather prevailed this morning at Ellerslie for the final gallops. No. 1 grass track, one trestle out, was open for fast work, and the hurdles were erected on the outside of the course proper, while the steeplechase course was also in use. The going as the result of recent rains was very heavy. There was a very large number of spectators. The first to work before, breakfast were Thursby (M'Carthy) and Boyal Tea (lightweight), who were a ruii from the five-furlong post, and came home in lmin 7 3-ssec. Eoyal Tea went well. . ' Catkin (M'Tavish), who is .looking well, sprinted homo from the half-mile peg' in 53 4-ssec, and did it Well. Restaurant and Segment were about even at the end of a five-furlong galltfp in lmin 9 4-ssec. Coriuax (Cammick) was sent over a round. He had Piet (Dingham) to assist him over the first part and The Thorn (Ray) to bring him home over the last five furlongs. Corinax finished- in front,, running the journey in 2min 3 4-ssec, the last six furlongs in lmin 26 1-osec. King Emerald (Chaplin) and Eager Rose (Deeley) were companions in a gallop over five furlongs. King Emer.ald showed to most advantage, his time being linm 8 4-ssee. „ ' Ldmint was not required to do a hard task, running six furlongs in lmin 23 3-ssec. ' ). This mare looks exceptionally well, and this was the best effort over" this distance during the morning. Dave (H. Dulieu) and Judge's Box (Manson) ran half a mile in 52 2-ssee.' Judge's Box appeared to"be going better at the finish. Mervette (Tinker) and. Stormy (M'Mahon) set out over a round. They were together practically all the way, but Mervette, who was on the outside, pleased most, her time being, lmin 57 3-ssec. This was the best round of the morning. Nucleus, Princess Ronnie, and Manly were sent over a' round, which they completed in lmin 59 2-ssec, the last mile taking drain 51 l-ssec. Nucleus was a shade in front of Princess Ronnie at the finish, with Manly a couple of. lengths back. Red Fuchsia and Peneus did strong work. ° Blue Spear, The Fox, and Killute ran six furlongs in lmin 23 2-ssec, finishing as named. ' Lady Cintra and Mia Bella went round in 2min' 7sec, finishing xm terms. Aberfeldy, Mister Gamp, and Town Bank were sent Over a rotlhd, but therewas not much between the' first-men-tioned two at the- finish. Town Bank was' closo up. Time, 2min 1 l-ssec. Day Guard and King Smock ran five furlongs in lmin Bsec, the former pleasing most. Llewellyn and Lord Guy covered six furlongs in lmin 27sec. Master Doon ahd Papatu finished together at the end of a round in Imm 50 ,3-sscc. _ Wedding March, who is looking well, did strong work, running home the last half-mile, in 55 2-ssee. Kingfield and Muscak were associated over half a mile, which they ran. in 52 2-ssec, Kingfield • showing to most advantage. Tinokoa ran a short six furlongs, covering the last five in, lmin 9 l-ssec. Tuki, Miss Alma, • and Maunga were sent over a round, and finished in that order, Time, 2niin 6 3-ssee. ! Arikitoa finished in front of Mangani at tlie end bf four furlongs in 58 1-5 sec. Kauri Park and^Odin were sent over a round. Odin was going the better j of the pair. Time, 2min 9 2-ssee. Arch Queen and Good Boy got to the end of fives furlongs in lmin 11 2-ssec. Clockwork easily beat Rafferty over a round in 2min ii'2-ssec. ' Ripon Abbey _did strong work,. and hit out freely. 1 Romford covered the last five furlongs of his work in lmin 8 3'ssee. ' Wiltshire covered a round in 2min 2 3-ssec. ' This gelding look exceptionally well, and went nicely throughout. On the sand, Sir Archie was sent fiv^ furlongs, running the last half-mile in 54sec. He could have improved on this time. Archibald was given useful Work on the samta track. Cynthia N., Ballymoy 11., Vexatious, Tidal, and' Modest Boy. Were also allotted serviceable tasks on the sand. Ramblin' Kid (Campbell), Hangawera (Tilson), Kilburn (Jarvis), and Bright Day (Warner) set out over four hurdles oh the course proper. Bright Day fell at the first and Ramblin' Kid' at the last hurdle. Kilburn led throughout and finished in front of Hangawera. Bright Day was remounted and completed the task. Star of the East (H. Dulieu), Pekatahi (M'Rae), and Paiana (Savage) were schooled over four hurdles on the course proper. Star of the East finished slightly .in front of Paiaha, with Pekatahi close up. Roman Abbey (Ronnie) went- nicely over four hurdles in the centre. Pukerimu went over four hurdles on the course proper, and gave a good display. Comical (Mr. Russell), Cureaform (Thomson),. Poul-i (Warner)> Passin' Through, Poriipeius (Chaplin), Brigadier Bill (Alan M'Donald), Ruby Ring (Mister M'Donald), Ha.efenitli (Gilniour), Prince Lupin (Rennie), and Polyphemus (Morrison) set out .over a round of the steeplechase course. They started off by jumping the sod wall and water jump, and Pouri, who was jumping well, pulled out after crossing the stone wall. Along the back Comical and Brigadier Bill were in charge, and led up the hill. Brigadier Bill falling at the first obstacle on the hill, while Comical.made a faulty jump at the second. However, Comical was Well in front as they came to the sod wall r aud-led over the remaining obsta-' clos. Polyphemus ran into the wing of the stonewall and unseated his rider. 'Passin' Through, Cureaform, Haeremai, and Prince Lupin gave good displays. Polyphemus was given another trial over the hill, and fell ana Sost his rider at the first fence.
