At 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon at Balona Bay a boy aged aboiit 10 years was some fifty yards off tho shore in a canoo when it capsized. Mr. L. J. Bryan went out to the boy and held him, but was unable to bring him ■ ashore. Mr. J. Duncan, of Bvaris Bay^ road, wont out to assist, and tlio boy; was brought safely ashore. Mr. Bryan had kept all his clothes on, and was alniOßt exhausted when he reached the beach. ('. \V.
