CHURCH MEETINGS

BEIiHAMPOUK. The annual general meeting of IJeiliainpore parishioners was held in St. (..'ntli-bei-fs Hall on Thursday. The vicar, the Kcv. N. S. Barnett, presided over an enthusiastic Ratherinc In reviewing the work of the year, the chairman stated that the Sunday school had done exceptionally well in the diocesan examination which was held in November. There were now 2SO children on the roll, aiut the attendance was good. The other organisations i'or young people—notably the Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, and Boy Cubs—were doing good work. The church attendance at morning prayers at 11 o'clock had been very good throughout the whole year, while that at evensong had often been thin, notably during tha time that the Daylight Saving Bill was in operation. The churchwardens'' report and the bal-ance-sheets were read and confirmed. The report stated that the chief difficulty encountered by the vestry was the incessant moving of the population. The duplex system of finance still proved to be th.c best system known to the vestry, but in their moving population the organisation was' incessant. The vestry had made a principal part of their policy the speedy reduction of the interest-bearing liabilities. To this end they had sold No. 4, Palm grove, ;^ul were negotiating Cor the removal of the present church buildings from Palm grove to the site in Luxford street, which included the disposal of the site in Palm grove. The bal-ance-sheets all showed credit balances in all the current accounts. Votes of thanks to the organist, Miss Husband, and to all other workers were carried with acclamation. The election of the vestry resulted as follows:—Vicar's churchwarden, Mr. W. Husband; people's churchwarden; Mr. C. W. B. Edwards; vestry, Messrs. G. Bell, R. 8011, A. P. Collyer, C. Darling, H. E. H. Gill, A. G. Heron, J. M'Vicar, L. B. Robinson, C. W. Ward; auditor, Mr. W. C. Charles.
