CHASE AND SCUFFLE

A STOLEN MOTOR-CAR (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. A car valued at £500 disappeared from Auckland this morning, but was recovered within two hours after an exciting chase. Constable Johnson, who had been told by telephone of the theft, h,ad his suspicions aroused as the car approached tho Mangere Bridge, and ho challenged the- driver to stop, bu^ the car crossed. Tho constable got another car, and later, when the car returned, gave chase when the joy rider refused to"heave to." Johnson's machine won in tho race that ensued, but a scuffle took place before he got the driver, Nicholas Frederick Lindholm, into custody. On his subsequent appearance in Court the accused was remanded for a week.
