LETTERS.
Dear Fairiel, —Last Sunday we went for a drive.in our car around Oriental Bay, and into Kilbirme. Then we on through the Seatoun tunnel and motored right round th« coast into Lyall Bay. As_we were motoring along we saw a sailing ship coming in in full rig. It looked beautiful as it moved in past Pencarrow Lighthouse, with its sails bulging out as far as they could go. We could see that the sails were wet with spray. There were three sails altogether, so you see it wasn't a very big boat. A little farther along the road we came to what we thought to be an old lighthouse, but whether it was or not we do not know. I will explain it to you, Pairiel, and see what you think. There was a concrete square and in the midd|; of it was a round thing the shape of a lighthouse, only it had no windows or a door. It was standing on the rocks beside the road, and the rocks and sea were a good way away. I think in the olden days the sea was right up to the road, and then the lighthouse would have been some use, if it is a lighthouse. Love. • ESMA JACOBSON. Wadestown. . .
Dear Fairiel, —How did you enjoy your Easter holidays? I do not think the weather has been very pleasant, but we have had such a lovely slimmer. I think it is about time the little flowers had a drink, don't you? The ■ grass is looking so fresh and green, and the little daisies are so pretty. I have two friends who said they were going to write to you, and I think this rain will send two for them to sit. We were going out to the playgrounds, but unfortunately it was wet, but never mind. We can sit inside and paint. I love it.- ■, • ■ . ■ MIRABLE MORTON. Wadestown. . Dear Fairiel, —I would like to join your ring. My father has been reading your replies to all the other girls. I had my ninth birthday party on the 10th of March, and it was lovely. About nineteen other girls were there, all about my age. We had a grand time, what with games, races, tiny tots records on the gramophone, to which we all did the actions, ice creams and fruit. The day was perfect. I had a birthday cake with nino candles. | DOKOTHY WILLIAMSON. Palmerston North.
