FINE WEATHER
WAR3I AND CLEAR On Saturday squally south-cast ■winds were prevalent over a largo part of .the Dominion, and the weather was showery in most districts with an. easterly' aspect. ■'At "Wellington there was a'total rainfall of 23 points... By Sunday morning, however, conditions had become more settled., The wind had decreased considerably, and almost generally the weather was flue. The only- place reporting rain at 9 a.m. today was Eussell, where there were passing squally showers. The controlling influence on the pressure distribution has. been an Intense anti-cyclone, the centre of which has remained stationary between tho South Island and the. Chatham,lslands.- This- morning this anti-cyelonfl extended from east of the Ciiathaxns to Australia, and. a fine spoil of. several days at least is indicated for the • Dominion. Temperatures have-been on the .cool side during tho week-end." .' '. . Tho forecast is for south-easterly' to easterly winds, fresh ■in places from Cook Strait northwards, but light to moderate elsewhere. There-may be isolated showers in the-far-north,'but lino weather generally, with cool nights and warm day temperatures, may be expected elsewhere. .'
