Forbcsj leader of the' Nationalist Party, stated yesterday that-in about a fortnight's time the names of' a number of candidates to contest seats for tho United Political Party will -.be announced. The selection is now being made of candidates to stand for every' scat iii tho Otago Province, and Mr.'' Forbes stated that ho considered' the Reform Party was raising a bogy when it declared that three-cornered elections would tend to give Labour a victory. "Many thousands of Liberals who , have been voting Reform and Labour in the past," said Mr. Forbes, "through want of Liberal candidates in the elections, will welcomo tho candidates of their own politics who will be contest-., ing the seats this year. All the ridiculous suggestions from the present Government that this would tend /to strengthen Labour's position'will not | deter those gentlemen, who know differont.", • .'.■■:
