PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

One of the finest sea-pictures ever screened, "White Wings," shown, to a bumper house at the Paramount Theatre last night, tells the story, and tells it right well, of an historic race between two clipper ships, one British, the other American, from Foochow, China, to Boston Harbour, Massachusetts. The period of the play is 1850,. when America seriously threatened England's supremacy of the sea. This great ocean race is magnificently portrayed, especially the tremendous typhoon which almost overwhelms the American ship, the "Yankee Clipper," while the British vessel, the "I,ord of the Isles," thirty miles ahead at I the time, escapes scot free. After the storm the "Yankee Clipper," with sails torn from the bolt-ropes and hanging in ribbons, looks a veritable wreck. But her young captain, Hal Wlnslow (William Boyd) sets all hands hard at work, gets the damage repaired la record time, and, in spite of treachery and mutiny aboard his ship, reaches Boston Harbour almost'neck and neck with the Lord of tho Isles.
