11 AT ATHLETIC CLUB'S MEETING 'Four moh who havo boon connected with Rugby football for many years wore' present .at ihe annual meeting of tho Athletic Football Olub last ovening. They were Colonel G. I\ C. Campbell, C..M.G., Mossrs. S. Cobcroft, M. Hyland, and W.. Hales. Both Air. Cobcroft and Mr. Ilyland took part in a nintch against Stoddard's fifteen, tho iirst English team to tour tho Dominions, hi tho '■ winter of' 1888. Mr. Cobcroft later went to Queensland, and captained a representative team from that. State- which played- - sovoral matches in Now! Zealand during tho oarly 'nineties. , « Tho Athletic Club was tho second to bo formed in Wellington, and Colonol Campbell, who wasro-olcctcd last ovening 'for''bis.'fifty-second--year of offlco, has boon;connected with lo club over since its incoption. Speaking at tho mooting last evening Colonel Campbell gave somo sound advico to tho youngor playors. During his connection with tho club, '.ho said, ,it 'had always played tho gnmo as' it -should bo played, and ho was sure it would continue to do so in tho future. .-.•
