An inquest was held to-day concerning tho doath of Millieent TCliza'beth Itiehtor, a farmer's wife, aged 42, who was found unconscious on tho road near her homo early'on thoovening of 24th February, and ' who :■ died' on. tho following night in tho hospital. The-Cor-oner (Mr. Barton) found that death resulted from a fractured ■ skull, «ustaiuod through Mrs. Biehter,' being knocked down, by a motor-car driven by. Goorgo Cravy Smith, stock driver, of Hawci'u. . ;, . It was alleged in evidence that.Smith and a. passenger, Ernest Alfred Nixon, woro both intoxicated,' and that they stopped after knocking the woman down, but left almost immediately when questioned by,a'passing motorist. Smith is being charged with' causing tho death of Mrs. Jtichtcr. '■■."'
