TIMBER YARD FIRE

What promised early to be one of the largest fires in the history of Sydney was saved by the prompt action of the fire brigades. The outbreak in Hudson's timber yards, one of tho largost in Australia, was discovered at four in the morning. Tho log mill was woll alight whon the brigades from all,parts' of the city arrived. The firemen, roeognising that there was no hopo of saving the mill, concentrated their efforts on saving the flames. They were assisted in this by fire floats s*ieh Ewn£&l SS immense
staclsß of timber and the spread of tho quantity of water from the harbour. Two firemen were injured. A number of high school boys camped in a rowing shed had a narrow escape. The flames were licking the building when they wero removed. The damage will amount only to several thousands of pounds.
