It lasted ten seconds. So far there is no loss of life reported, but a paftic occurred, the populace rushing into the streets fear-stricken. Many are camping in the open. '< Fortunately the buildings erected since the last earthquake generally withstood the shocks, but the damage was considerable in some towns.
