IMPORTED TIMBERS
USE AT MASSEY COLLEGE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMEESTON N., This Day. Replying to a criticism of the use of foreign timber at the Masscy College factory, Mr. R. A. Lippincott, the architect to the College Council, said that tho architect had to secure the best to do the required work at tho minimum cost. Oregon, was the lightest structural material in proportion to weight and to save weight in the roof its use has been suggested. It was available in requisite lengths for long spans. A small quantity of redwood was specified for the verge boards, as it too was peculiarly suited for this use, as it can be had in long lengths, and does not shrink at the end, making a permanent job. Elsewhere on the job Now ZeZaland timber had been used. Tho total amount of imported timber was relatively a small matter.
