AMERICAN PRESIDENCY

MAKING TROUBLE FOE HOOVER (United Press Association.—Copyright.) NEW YOKK, 26th January. In connection with the religious issue involved in a report from San Francisco that Mr. Herbert Hoover, probable Republican candidate for the U.S. Presidency, had been married by a Catholic priest, it is stated that Mr. Hoover is a Quaker, and that Mrs. Hoover was an Episcopalian, but now is of the same faith as her husband. One report states that tho priest was a close personal friends of Mrs. Hoover, while another has it that Mr. Hoover was on the point of sailing for China, and the only official in the neighbourhood capable of performing the marriage was a Eoman Catholic priest, who officiated in a maner similar to a Justico of the Peace.
