RECORD GATES
WARATAHS' PROFITS
ALL BLACKS' EXCEEDED ! MOST POPULAR TEAM (United Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, 27th January. To the distinction of being the most popular Dominion touring side, tho Waratahs are likely to return with a more material record. The gate money for twenty-eight matches is expected to yield a total of £61,000, including the record for the match against England of £.16,000, because for the first time the new stand at Twickenham was filled. Other international takings were: —Against Scotland, £8000; against Wales, £5000; and against Ireland, £4500. The smallest gate was £300, against North Scotland. Deducting the expenses of the tour, £12,000, also the entertainments tax, £12,000, this means that the Waratahs will hand over £36,800 to the British authorities, to be divided as follows:— England, £14,000; Wales, £9000; Scotland, £5700; Ireland, £4000. This compares with the All Blacks' profits of £21,000. The Waratahs will take back £1600 profit from France. The sum of £600 has been guaranteed for the match in Vancouver.
